Steel Corridors of Opportunity takes a look at the history of freight rail and the challenges it may face in the future.
OXFORD COUNTY - Oxford County Council has approved the third installment of a series of reports regarding public transportation in Southwestern Ontario.
CAO Peter Crockett tells us about the document titled "Steel Corridors of Opportunity" written by Greg Gormick of On Track Studies.
"The intent of the report is to first of all tell the story of freight rail; how it operates, how to it came to be where it is and then also where it's going and what some of the challenges and the solutions to some of those to begin the dialogue for how to make some of that happen."
Crockett says this will be a good transition into the fourth and final report.
"It will lead into the next report into passenger rail transportation in the existing rail corridors."
Council is looking to bring together a Southwestern Ontario Rail Corridor Coalition, which will be made up of government and rail industry stakeholders.
