The Sri Guru Singh Sabha Working Committee in Woodstock recently dropped off two truck loads full of food donations to the local Salvation Army Food bank.
WOODSTOCK - The Sri Guru Singh Sabha Working Committee managed to donate two truck loads of food to the Salvation Army in Woodstock.
They were collecting the donations on Saturday at the Shanna Larsen Park and the Ludington Park. The Working committee did this along with the local punjabi community as a way to celebrate Sikh Heritage Month.
Normally, the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Working Committee celebrates Sikh Heritage in Woodstock every year in April by performing prayers and collecting donations, but due to COVID this year they had to restrict themselves to collecting donations only.
Community Ministries Coordinator for the Salvation Army Woodstock Noel Sterne says they were thrilled with the donation, which will help fill their cupboards at the food bank.
"On behalf of the Salvation Army in Woodstock, I would like to extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to the Sri Guru Singh Sabha Woodstock for their generous food drive event. We continue to be amazed by our community's consistent support for the work we are blessed and humbled to do for our city. Thank you again to everyone who donated. Please stay safe and healthy these days."
