Pittock Conservation Area is hosting different activities throughout the summer. In addition to tomorrow's night's Owl Prowl Night Hike, there are other events taking place this month and in August.
WOODSTOCK - Families can participate in fun activities this summer at Pittock Conservation Area.
One of them is an Owl Prowl Night Hike, which goes tomorrow night.
Community Education Supervisor with the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, Karlee Flear says people will get to learn all about owls.
"It's for families, adults, anybody who wants to come out. And it's a night hike and it's happening at 8:30, and it's an owl prowl-themed night hike. So we'll be talking about owls in the area, their characteristics and we'll also be doing some owl calls and hopefully hear some owls come to us."
Flear says their route will start at the recreation centre and then they'll be moving into different areas of the campgrounds. They do ask people to prepare for the weather, rain or shine, however it will be cancelled if there are thunderstorms.
She says the event gives people a chance to see all of the great things available at Pittock.
"We really just want people to come out to the park and see all the things that we have going on, all the things that we have to offer. The events themselves are free. If you don't own a season's pass you do have to pay to get into the gate into the campgrounds. But we want to offer some educational opportunities, showcase not only the park but our local environment and all of the wonderful things that we have."
In addition to tomorrow's night's Owl Prowl Night Hike, there are other events taking place this month and in August.
There will be Bird Watching on July 24th at 8:30am with Community Education Technician Pat McLean, and again on August 10th at 8:30am. Pittock will also be organizing a Wellness Walk on July 26th and on August 23rd, beginning at 10:00am, along with a Photo Scavenger Hunt the following day at 11:00am. And they will host their last Twilight Hike on August 2nd at 8:00pm.
The Owl Prowl Night Hike will go until 10:00pm. To learn more about the events happening at Pittock this summer, their website is available here.
