Oxford County will insure Canadian Mental Health Association's donated Toyota RAV4.
OXFORD COUNTY -- A long standing weakness in a quality of life indicator present in Oxford County, being transportation was addressed at Wednesday's County Council meeting.
A Toyota RAV 4 donated to the Oxford branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada will be insured under Oxford County Fleet insurance policy which is less expensive.
A key partnership has now been put in place to assist in the movement of people in the county who are in the Ontario Works and Disability Support programs, assisting them in getting to and from appointments and work.
Paul Beaton, Director of Human Services Resources for Oxford County says the need for transportation is an issue in the county. "Woodstock has public transportation while Tillsonburg, Ingersoll and the outlying Townships do not have public transportation so the need to get to medical appointments is paramount as well as to get to employment related activities too, so there is a great need"
CMHA Oxford will be organizing a web based program for people or Case Workers throughout the county to book appointments and travel. This will relieve a lot of issue and concern for the patients getting to both their medical appointments and work locations.
