Peter Ypma has been on SWOX council for two terms and is seeking a third.
SWOX - He has been on South-West Oxford Council for eight years now and he's looking to add another four.
Peter Ypma has decided to run for re-election as the Ward 2 councillor for the Township.
He says council has been hard at work bringing fibre internet to South-West Oxford over the past few years, and it should be largely wrapped up by the end of this year.
Ypma has also served with the same councillors for the past two terms now, and this is what he's most proud of.
"Trying to ensure that the annual tax increases are as minimal as possible, while still reflecting the full cost of our operations so we don't run too many situations where we have reports of debentures for larger ticket items. So I am very proud of council's record on our financial management of the township."
Ypma would like to provide some consistency in council chambers, because four of the seven councillors will not be returning and the Township also has a new CAO.
"She's been with the Township for a number of years in the Clerk's role, but she stepped into the CAO role as of January 1st this year. So I would like to be there to support her in her work and provide a bit of consistency in council to the best of my ability."
He's also looking forward to the new municipal office in Mount Elgin, which should see construction begin sometime next year.
The municipal election is scheduled for October 26th.
