SWPH Asking Residents to Not Cancel Second Dose Appointments

SWPH is asking residents who are 80+ to keep their June appointments for second doses, even after today's announcement.

OXFORD/ELGIN/ST.THOMAS - Starting on Monday, people who are 80+ can start booking second dose appointments in Ontario.

Premier Doug Ford announced this morning the Province is ahead of schedule when it comes to vaccines and second doses will be rolled out sooner than expected.

In the Southwestern Public Health region, however, the Health Unit recommends that you keep your current second dose appointment if it is within the month of June. There are limited appointments available due to vaccine supply.

More information will be coming out next week about when and how to book earlier appointments. For right now, they are asking residents to not cancel your existing second dose appointments.

If vaccine supply increases, Southwestern Public Health will increase the number of appointments available to allow more people to book earlier second doses.

Currently, only those who are 80+, high risk health care providers, medical first responders, and certain high risk health conditions are eligible for an earlier second dose. Everyone else remains at the 112-day interval.

You can find more information online here.
