"We ask you all, if you are going to attend church, please do so virtually, if you are thinking of connecting with your family, please do so online or by phone and do stay in your small family bubbles."
OXFORD COUNTY - The Medical Officer of Health for Southwestern Public Health is urging people to stay within your small family bubbles this Easter Long Weekend.
Dr. Joyce Lock says she fully understands people are frustrated right now and are fed up with COVID-19 but we have to take the variants of concerns seriously.
"When numbers are increasing and trends are worrisome, we can't turn away from the numbers, we need to use these numbers to fuel our resolve to make us more determined, to continue on our journey to mitigate transmission. What we need to do most right now is to prevent the variants of concern from spreading further. These variants can derail all the work we have done to stop COVID-19 in our communities."
Dr. Lock says she understands people are ready to get outside.
"Easter is this weekend and it is usually the springboard for the beginning of warmer days and the longer days of Spring. Many of us were hoping with the warmer weather and sunshine it would be safe to gather and instead we are entering another lockdown with the emergency brake that the Premier just introduced."
Dr. Lock says they are urging people to follow the public health guidelines.
"We ask you all, if you are going to attend church, please do so virtually, if you are thinking of connecting with your family, please do so online or by phone and do stay in your small family bubbles."
