Oxford County residents over the age of six months old will be able to get the latest COVID-19 vaccine at the Southwestern Public Health office in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK/ST. THOMAS - Southwestern Public Health is now offering the latest COVID-19 vaccine to everyone over the age of six months.
Jaime Fletcher, the Program Manager for Vaccine Preventable Diseases, says you can get the shot at their Woodstock or St. Thomas offices.
"If you are unable to get a vaccine at your primary care office, or through your pharmacy, please book an appointment online or by phone (1-833-943-3900) at either our St. Thomas or our Woodstock location. There are fewer clinics than in previous years of the pandemic, but we continue to open up spots and add new dates as staffing and supply allows.”
You have to wait at least six months after your last COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed infection before you get the shot.
The health unit is strongly encouraging high-risk members of the public to get the latest vaccine that protects against the XBB variant. This includes pregnant mothers, those over the age of 65, and people with immune-compromising health conditions.
You can find more information about Southwestern Public Health's COVID-19 vaccination clinics online here.
The health unit would like to advise everyone that it does not have the flu vaccine right now, so you'll only be able to get that shot at a local pharmacy or your primary care provider.
