SWPH Offering Vaccine Pop-Up Clinics at Local Schools

The latest data shows that only 54% of teens and pre-teens between 12-19 have been fully vaccinated.

OXFORD COUNTY - Southwestern Public Health is trying to encourage teens and pre-teens aged 12-19 to get vaccinated before school starts.

Local Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock says having more people vaccinated is our best chance to keep schools open.

"We can all agree that students belong in the classroom. We have the opportunity to do as much as we can to ensure that happens, and help prevent another interrupted year."

The latest data shows that 66% of individuals aged 12-19 have been vaccinated with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and only 54% have been fully vaccinated.

With this in mind, SWPH is hosting a couple of school based pop-up clinics next week.

The first one is at Huron Park Secondary School in Woodstock on August 30 from 1-4p.m.

They will also visit West Elgin Secondary School in West Lorne on September 2 from 1-4 p.m. and Emily Stowe Public School in Norwich on September 3 from 1-4 p.m.

Additional pop-up clinics may be added over the coming days.

These clinics will have Pfizer and first or second doses will be available. You don't need an appointment and more information can be found online here.
