MPP Ernie Hardeman says residents will be able to access the care they need, when they need it, and close to home.

OXFORD - A provincial investment of $500,600 will improve access to life-saving surgeries in Oxford County.

Woodstock Hospital is set to receive $249,000 for volume funded programs while Rural Road Health Services (RRHS), which covers Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital and Alexandra Hospital Ingersoll, receives $24,100. In terms of globally-funded programs, Woodstock will receive $135,800 and RRHS will receive $91,500.

MPP Ernie Hardeman says the local hospitals will be able to provide more surgeries and reduce wait times for patients.

"Whether it’s cancer treatment, heart surgery or other important procedures, people need to know they can get the care they need, when they need it, close to home. This investment will help our local hospitals continue to provide that care."

This funding is part of more than $1.1 billion in additional hospital funding for 2026-2027, including $331 million in base funding to update funding rates for select volume-funded programs and up to $50 million in one-time funding to reduce wait times for select globally-funded programs.

Deputy Premier and Health Minister Sylvia Jones saysthe Ford Government is making record investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system.

"Through these additional investments, we are providing Ontario’s hospitals with the support they need so they can deliver life-saving surgeries and high-quality care for the people of Ontario."
