You can donate cash or menstrual products to help the cause.
OXFORD COUNTY - Tampon Tuesday is right around the corner.
The local Shoppers Drug Mart locations in Woodstock, Ingersoll, Tillsonburg and Norwich are currently accepting donations of cash or menstrual hygiene products.
This is the 8th annual Tampon Tuesday campaign in Oxford County. Cassandra Benard, a member of Women United through United Way Oxford says it address period poverty in our community.
"Its right to the point where people have to select things like food and housing over spending money on menstrual products. We try to meet that need so they don't have to make that unfortunate decision every month."
Benard says all of the donations will stay in the community they're collected in.
"It stays in the community that it's raised in. So the more the more the community participates, the more your community will benefit from the donations from the event."
This means that a donation collected in Woodstock will help someone in Woodstock, a donation collected in Norwich will help someone in Norwich, etc.
Tampon Tuesday is Tuesday March 4th and Women United will be hosting three donation and networking events on the big day. They will be taking place at the Kelseys in Woodstock, the Kelseys in Tillsonburg, and Scotch and Ponder in Ingersoll from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that day.
Cassandra Benard stopped by the Heart FM studio with Melissa MacLean on Wednesday February 26th. You can listen to their full interview with Dan and Marcie below:
