WOODSTOCK - Operation Sharing is hosting a taxable item drive at the Giant Tiger in Woodstock this weekend.
They will be collecting items until 5:00 pm tonight and then again from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm on Saturday. Organizer of the drive Chris Eby says the office is empty and the need for these kind of things is greater and greater all the time.
"Taxable items are things like toilet paper, cleaning supplies, dish soap, laundry detergent, toothpaste, tooth brushes and other essentials."
Eby says taxable items cannot be purchased with a Food for Friends card.
"Why they are so needed is because some of our less fortunate people are running short on groceries, so we give these items out for free to people who use the Food for Friends program so they can spend more money on food."
All of the items donated will go towards Operation Sharing's Food for Friends program and they will be distributed to those less fortunate in our community.
