The club will be hosting a free family event in South Lions Park from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

THAMESFORD - It's a milestone year for the Thamesford Lions Club.

President Francine Overeem says the club will be celebrating it's 65th anniversary this Saturday with a free family event in South Lion's Park from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m..

"We're going to do a meet and greet from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and we're also going to have a little ceremony to recognize some of the Lions club members who have dedicated 50 or more years to the service."

The club has 67 members to date, and six of them will be honoured during the event. Those who are interested in joining the club are also welcome to stop by and learn more.

Overeem says it's going to be a great time.

"We're going to have live music from Off The Record, some kids games, free hot dogs and water, face painting, and we're going to decorate some cookies. It's going to be a great day."

Francine Overeem called the Heart FM studio to chat with Dan and Marcie on Wednesday, August 19th. You can listen to the full interview below:
