Thanking Our First Responders

The Mayors of Woodstock and Ingersoll wanted to issue a huge thank you to all of our First Responders, tow truck drivers and plows who were working around the clock yesterday.

OXFORD COUNTY - First Responders in Oxford County were extremely busy yesterday.

Police, Fire and EMS were working around the clock in terrible conditions yesterday dealing with over a dozen collisions on Highway 401 and on the other roads in Oxford County. Of course the major one was on the Highway 401 W/B with two multi vehicle pileups at Sweaburg Road and Oxford Road 6. Crews worked around the clock to clean up the mess and try to get everything sorted out. This also included tow truck drivers who worked around the clock as well trying to get everything done.

Mayor of Woodstock Trevor Birtch wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who worked around the clock last night.

"On behalf of all of the citizens of the Friendly City, I would like to issue a big thank you to all of the first responders and those involved in helping with the accidents that were plaguing our area and of course the fatal accident on the 401. The City and our transit system also stepped up, around 3:00 pm. we sent out a Para Transit bus to act as shelter and transportation for individuals while police and first responders cleared up what was going on there."

Ingersoll Mayor Ted Comiskey also wanted to issue a huge thank you to all of our first responders who worked tirelessly last night.

"Sometimes we forget when we are at home on the couch listening to all of the accidents that First Responders are out there on the scene, working hard in terrible, terrible conditions. If you don't think there life is on the line then you are silly. The work they do while we are comfortable is astounding, I thank them so much, I can't thank them enough and society can't thank them enough for what they do."

We also wanted to share this safety message delivered by Ernie, a Recovery Specialist that wants to make it home safe to his family.
