Around 70 people have signed up but more are needed for the October 24th event in Roth Park.
WOODSTOCK - The Canadian Cancer Society of Oxford County is hoping to attract more people to sign up for their Cool Runnings race.
Community Fundraising Specialist Liz Wismer-Van Meer tells Heart FM what makes their fall race so unique.
"It's one of the only trail races that you will see for the Provincial Canadian cancer society offices, a few other ones do mud runs and obstacle courses, but we are the only one who does the trail race so it is a unique event for us to have here in Oxford County."
Cool Runnings offers racers a 5 km and 10 km mixed surface course in Roth Park along with a kids fun run. Last year the event raised $7,800 and this year they are hoping to bring in $10,000.
You can still register online and the event and the rates are $35 dollars for the 5k, $45 for the 10k and $15 for the fun run, however Van Meer says the rates will go up.
"October 22nd and 23rd the rates do go up by $5, we will also be accepting registrations the day of at the events and there will be no fee increase that day as the rates will be the same."
You can register online at www.cancer.ca/coolrunnings or at the Cancer Society on Springbank Ave in Woodstock.
