For over 35 years, the Town of Tillsonburg collected old Christmas Trees at the curb. But residents of town will be responsible for disposing of their own trees this year. The town has decided to stop the service so staff can make better use of their time. Tillsonburg Mayor John Lessif thinks that if you buy the tree you should be able to dispose of it too. "Somehow they are able to purchase them and get them into their homes, so I think there also should be a way that they can take the tree after Christmas to the tranfer station," said Lessif. The transfer station is located on Newell St. in Tillsonburg. Staff resources will focus more on winter maintenance, storm drainage, and asphalt patching now that the service has been cancelled.
