The Tillsonburg Hurricanes' recent performance is turning them into a title contender this season.
TILLSONBURG - The Tillsonburg Hurricanes are off to a hot start this season.
In just their third season, the Tillsonburg Hurricanes are one of the best teams in the GMHL.
Tillsonburg Hurricanes' owner Ian Ellis says everyone is feeling positive.
"Everybody's on a positive vibe. We're all on the same page and we're all headed in the same direction, so overall we're pretty ecstatic on how things are moving forward."
Their recent run has seen the Hurricanes earn support from the community, and they even received coverage from Sportsnet.
Ellis adds their success has put them in line with their goal to challenge for the title this season.
Tillsonburg have four players who are among the top scorers in the league, including forward Ivan Bondarenko who leads the league in goals and points. Meanwhile their goaltender sits in third with a .923 save percentage.
In order to challenge for the championship, Ellis says it will be important to stay positive and focused.
"We have to keep everybody positive, help each other out, support each other through thick and thin so that we stay focused and we can make that run."
