Activities will start at the Cenotaph at 10:45am on Wednesday
TILLSONBURG - Remembrance Day ceremonies in Tillsonburg will start at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday with a silent march to the Cenotaph.
The walk will start at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Walkway and and Rolph Street and then the readings will start at the Cenotaph at 10:45. Poppy Chairman for the Tillsonburg Branch 153 of the Royal Canadian Legion Don Burton tells Heart FM why he thinks it is so important to attend these ceremonies.
"It's important because the things that we do on a daily basis would not be possible it it wasn't for these people who gave the supreme sacrifice to allow us to have the freedom of speech and freedom to do the things that we do."
At the cenotaph they will be introducing a plaque carrying all the names of the men and women from Tillsonburg who lost their lives in WW1 and WW2. Burton says they expect a number of veterans will make the trek.
"Unfortunately there is not too many of them left in Tillsonburg, we are hoping that those that are still alive will be out, we have the Harvest Retirement Home who has donated their bus to pick up the veterans and bring them to the cenotaph, so there will be some veterans there."
