TILLSONBURG - The new head coach of the Evansville Thunderbolts of the Southern Professional Hockey League is from Tillsonburg.
Jeff Bes was announced as the head coach in a press release last week. He has over 10 years of coaching experience and 19 years of playing professional hockey in the AHL, IHL, ECHL and European Hockey Leagues. Bes is really excited to be coaching for Evansville.
"Very excited about the opportunity to coach In Evansville. We are looking forward to providing an exciting and hard- working hockey team the fans of Evansville deserve."
Bes grew up in Tillsonburg and played in the OHL for Hamilton and Guelph. He was actually drafted to the NHL by the Minnesota North Stars, however he did not play any NHL games. Easily one of the highlights of his career was winning a gold medal with Canada at the 1993 World Juniors in Sweden.
