The Town of Ingersoll is joining Woodstock and Tillsonburg in asking for changes to the way the Oxford County council composition is made up. One thing on the table is making the Warden become an elected position.
INGERSOLL - County Council may have a different look after the next municipal election.
Ingersoll became the third community to vote against a County recommendation that the status quo of the composition of council be maintained. The current County Council has 10 members, 5 representing urban areas and 5 members standing for the rural municipalities and the Warden is selected from this group.
One suggestion is to tie the number of councilors to population and that the Warden be elected at large. Woodstock and Tillsonburg are also calling for changes.
