Toyota is recalling 1.3 million cars globally. In Canada, 157,000 vehicles are being recalled to correct issues with airbags and window wipers. 140,000 Corolla and Matrix cars from 2003 to 2004 are being recalled because of concerns with their airbags, which could deploy inadvertently due to a possible short circuit in the control module. Roughly 17,000 Lexus IS models between 2006 to 2012 are recalled as the wiper arms may not be sufficiently tight and could possibly stop working if their movement is restricted, by a buildup of snow for example. The automaker says owners of the vehicles that are affected by the voluntary recall will receive a letter in the mail starting next month.
