The Woodstock Art Gallery are putting together 500 art grab bags for kids to do on Spring Break. They will be handing them out for free on Saturday.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Art Gallery and TMMC are teaming up once again to hand out art grab bags for kids to use during the Spring break.
They did this before for the Family Day weekend and it was extremely popular. People lined up around the block as they handed out 300 bags in 10 minutes.
Art Gallery Director/Curator Mary Reid says they were blown away by the interest.
"We were shocked and delighted to see hundreds of people lined up around the corner and down the street for our first art grab bag."
Reid says based on the popularity of the Family Day campaign, they reached out to Toyota again for help and this time they will have 500 grab bags to give away.
"There is an incredible demand for this program and we are grateful to once again have the support of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada to provide free art supplies to our community."
Toyota donates the money so the gallery can fill the art bags with some really cool items. Each grab bag is chock-full of free art supplies including sketchbooks, paper, pencils, crayons, and other fun craft materials such as embroidery thread and washi tape. Vice President of TMMC Ricardo DeSouza says they're thrilled to be part of this.
"Our Team Members at TMMC care intensely and want to make a difference in the community. While it’s been hard for us to get out and participate in the community during the pandemic, we still want to support activities like this. We're especially happy to work with the Woodstock Art Gallery on this initiative, helping to inspire the next generation."
Curbside pickup will take place outside the Woodstock Art Gallery's main entrance at 449 Dundas St. on Saturday, April 10, beginning at 10 a.m. The grab bags are available while supplies last, with a limit of two per family. Everyone is asked to wear a mask in line and to maintain physical distance in the lineup.
