The Oxford County Transformation Master Plan was among the talking points at the latest Norwich council meeting.
NORWICH TOWNSHIP - The Oxford County Transformation Master Plan is underway, as Oxford County is looking to deal with various transportation issues.
The County is considering downloading some of the roads to Township of Norwich.
Although discussions is still in the early stages, CAO Kyle Kruger says these roads would reside under the jurisdiction of Norwich Township.
"The information from Public Works, not surprisingly, they concentrated on highlighting that there are a couple of what are currently County roads, that they're proposing to transfer authority and responsibility over to the Township of Norwich."
A total distance of over 13 kilometres would become a part of the Township of Norwich, including a remainder of Curries Road, Potters Road East of 59, Wendy’s Road and a section of Swimming Pool Road.
Kruger adds the maintence on roads will be expensive.
"(And) that doesn't include other maintenance issues, requirements, road restoration works and capital works."
The plans are still in development and staff is looking for more input from council.
