Looks like the truck tried to do a U-turn after realizing they wouldn't fit through the overpass and went into the ditch on County Road 17 in Zorra Township.
ZORRA TOWNSHIP - OPP are dealing with a transport in the ditch at the Putnam train bride overpass on County Road 17, just north of Hamilton Road. in Zorra Township.
Looks like the truck tried to do a U-turn after realizing they wouldn't fit through the overpass, and went into the ditch. The bridge is notorious for accidents, with trucks thinking they can fit through the clearance. Police have posted several signs.
Tips for drivers on how to avoid Low Clearance Bridges and Overpasses:
- If you have a GPS unit specifically made for commercial motor vehicles, keep the updates updated
- Don't rely on the unit exclusively unless you want to run the risk of getting wedged under a bridge and have to deal with an embarrassing situation, a fine, and the potential loss of your cargo
- Have another reliable source that you can consult like a good map book or truckers atlas
- Pay attention to road clearance signs
