The Woodstock Police are putting a reminder out to parents about dangers hidden inside tasty Halloween treats.
Once again, parents are being reminded of the dangers hidden inside colourful candy wrappers.
Woodstock Police Constable Nikki VanLeeuwen says we haven't had a problem with drugs and other dangers making their way into kids hands disguised as Halloween candy in the Friendly City. "Not to say that it couldn't happen, but we haven't had it. We still shouldn't put our guard down. Which is why we still want parents to look and make sure that everything is what it's supposed to be."
One of the biggest worries, according to VanLeeuwen, is drug tablets making their way into the wrong hands."Some ecstasy tablets can actually look like little tiny candies. You can actually go online and see what that actually looks like. So I would be more apprehensive to eat if someone has package random candy in a separate bag."
VanLeeuwen also recommends that parents remind young children about the risk involved in indulging in some of those treats while trick or treating. "For the young people as much as it would probably be tempting if you get a really delicious treat to eat it before you get it home, we suggest you don't do that. Just make sure your parents or an adult goes through all of your candy and makes sure everything is safe to eat."
