Police had to react quickly and with caution after getting word of a man packing heat in Stratford.
STRATFORD - Two men are facing drug and weapons charges after Police were called about two people acting suspicious in the area of the Tim Horton's and Beer Store in Stratford on Huron Street.
A citizen called police and said it appeared one of the men had a hand gun tucked down the front of his pants. The caller remained on the line to let police know where the men were headed. Officers arrived at the scene in less than two minutes of the initial report. Police drew their pistols because of the report of a gun and ordered the men to the ground.
A 22 year old St. Agatha was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of Meth and carrying a concealed weapon. The other man a 45 year old from Stratford was also arrested and charged with possession of Meth. The gun on the 22 year old turned out to be a replica pistol, or pellet gun. Both men were transported to the police station and were later released pending a court appearance.
Inspector Theocharis would like to thank the citizens that called in this occurrence to the police and remained on the telephone providing valuable information for officers to make the arrest. It is such cooperation between the Stratford Police and citizens of Stratford that assist our officers in making arrests and taking criminals off of our streets, making our a community the safest place to live.
