Police charged a 15 year old for underage driving after finding them in a ditch in South Perth.
PERTH SOUTH - A little early morning joy ride for an under age driver ended with the vehicle in the ditch in Perth South.
Perth OPP discovered the vehicle traveling in the area of Perth Line 5 yesterday around 6:30a.m. The driver was only 15 years old and they had a 16 year old passenger in the vehicle as well.
Neither minor had any injuries.
Police charged the driver with careless driving, as well as driving without a licence. Media Relations Officer Laura Brown says they are lucky the situation wasn't more serious.
"In addition to being an offence, operating a motor vehicle without a driver's licence places the public unnecessarily at risk. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident."
Police will continue to investigate the incident further and would like to thank the public for their ongoing assistance with driving reports. If you observe suspicious or concerning driving behaviour, pull over and call police immediately at 1-888-310-1122. For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
