Southwestern Public Health is hoping to clear up some misinformation regarding vaccination status and hospitalization rates.
In a social media post put out this morning, the Health Unit states when you look at the data, the amount of people in the hospital is much larger in the unvaccinated population"
"Are there more vaccinated people in the hospital with COVID-19 than unvaccinated? No. On the surface it might look that way. But consider the size of each group. 157,000 SWPH residents are fully vaccinated. Over the course of 20 days, 51 of these vaccinated residents were hospitalized with COVID. 54,000 residents are unvaccinated. 37 of these unvaccinated residents were hospitalized with COVID during the same time period. A bigger proportion of those unvaccinated end up in the hospital than those who are vaccinated."
