It is Game 1 tonight between the Woodstock Navy Vets and the Tavistock Braves. The Navy Vets will be on the road against the Braves after they beat Paris in Game 7 last Saturday.
TAVISTOCK - Following their Game 7 win against Paris, the Woodstock Navy Vets will square off against the Tavistock Braves in the second round.
The Navy Vets will be on the road for Game 1 tonight.
Head coach Darren Young says he expects Woodstock to be ready.
"We're coming off an emotional seven game series and I do think it's helped that we've had, not quite a week, but four or five days here to get a little a bit of rest back, but I expect us to come in prepared, structured with our game plan and ready to execute and jumping on them early."
The last time Woodstock and Tavistock met was in 2018 where the Navy Vets were swept 4-0 in the series.
He says while the teams were different then, he says you can take some things away from their series with Tavistock. Young, who was assistant coach for Woodstock at that time, says they know what they're going to get from the Braves in terms of the way they're going to play.
"They're going to play a similar game, they're not going to get unravelled so for us we need to make sure when things get tough that we're not trying to change our game in terms of guys trying to do too much, and that's where I think we got into trouble two years ago."
Young adds they didn't have much success against the Braves this year throughout the season, but he says there were some games that were very close. He says there is a lot of things he can take from those games to try to put a good plan together to make it a tough series.
Young says he doesn't look at the Braves as rivals going into this series, but as the top team in the Doherty Division.
"You're playing the first place team so if you can take Game 1 you're obviously in a good spot and you're feeling good coming home, but again you've got to execute. If you don't win Game 2 it really doesn't change much."
The game starts at 7:30.
