The battle between the Merchants and Vets continue in the Quarter Final series.
WOODSTOCK - The Navy Vets now take the lead in the quarter final series against the Norwich Merchants. In another overtime win on home ice, the Vets proved in game 3 that they are comfortable leading the series 2-1.
The Vets took a 2-0 lead after the 1st period with goals by Kurtis Christo and Josh Wright. Norwich turned things around in the second period, tying things up with two quick goals. It wasn't long before the Vets took the lead once again late in the period, thanks to a goal by Justin Vandendool.
Not letting down, Norwich came back in the third period and tied things up , both teams had chances to pull ahead in the latter half in the last period but were shut out by goaltenders Mike Harrison of the Vets and Tyler Gubesch of the Merchants.
The Navy Vets started the extra period with a penalty but did a good job killing the penalty which seemed to give them a spark and then started to force the play which led to the game winning heroics by Dylan Wettlaufer. With just over 8 minutes into overtime, Wettlaufer scored the game goal.
Game #4 goes on Friday night in Norwich.
