WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police are investigating after an Australian Shepherd was attacked by a pit bull at a local park.
A woman was walking her two dogs at an on-leash park when she noticed what appeared to be a pit bull running at large. Suddenly the pit bull noticed one of her dogs, an Australian Shepherd, and charged at it. The dog attacked the Shepherd causing injuries to its throat and face. Four people at the park and a neighbour rushed to help the woman and eventually the owner of the pit bull attended and was able to get the dog under control.
The Shepherd attended the veterinarian to have the injuries treated.
The investigation is continuing under the Dog Owner’s Liability Act and in partnership with Woodstock City Bylaw.
