OXFORD COUNTY - The annual VON Week is back in Oxford County.
During the week there will be events held to celebrate everyone involved that helps make VON run. Volunteer Coordinator, Janet Somers says there is a theme every year.
"This year it is "Connected with Purpose." So, it's gathering all our volunteers, our staff, our families, our clients, community partners, and knowing we are all working towards the same common purpose."
Programs offered include Meals on Wheels, volunteer visitors, smart exercises, and transportation to medical appointments. Somers knows it takes a lot of people and commitment to have the programs run smoothly and is very thankful.
"I would just like to thank everybody in our community. We have an amazing community here in Oxford for volunteers. We have a great staff at our office and Sakura, and we couldn't do it without our community partners, our families and clients."
Somers mentions an event will be held on Thursday at Fore Oxford to celebrate the volunteers who help with the different services that are offered through VON. The event gets underway at 4 p.m.
