Wage and Rent Subsidies Will Continue at Current Levels Until June

Prime Minister Trudeau also announced the 500,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine have arrived, 100,000 doses of that vaccine will be coming to Ontario.

CANADA - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today the Government will extend the wage and rent subsidies for businesses at the current levels until June.

Trudeau says these subsidies have helped countless businesses stay afloat during the pandemic.

"This isn't the time to pull support for workers and business owners, it is the time to see people through, what is hopefully the final stretch of this crisis and it is the time to get the whole economy roaring back."

Trudeau also announced today that the shipment of 500,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine have arrived in Canada and the rollout will start soon. Ontario will receive 100,000 doses of the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine. Yesterday Health Minister Christine Elliott confirmed they will not administer the Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine to people 65 and under. Minister Elliott says they are waiting for more direction from Ottawa and will be announcing the plans for the 100,000 doses soon. They will expire in April.

To date, 2 million vaccines have been administered across the County. 27,000 vaccines were administered yesterday alone in the Province of Ontario.
