The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's will be taking place in Woodstock and Tillsonburg this Saturday.
OXFORD - The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is back for another year in Oxford County.
It will be taking place at College Ave Secondary School in Woodstock and Memorial Park in Tillsonburg this Saturday. Registration starts at 9:00 a.m., the walks should begin at 10:00 a.m., and all of the proceeds will be going to the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners.
Director of Development Leslie Rand says it's a laid back event, all in support of a good cause.
"You can walk, you can stroll, or you can just sit in a lawn chair and enjoy the folks that are there and the activities! It's about coming out and showing people living with dementia that they're not alone."
She says the Alzheimer Society supports thousands of people living in our community.
"When we say there's 3,000 people in Oxford County living with dementia, there's also potentially 3,000 or more family members and friends working to support that individual. We know that close to 60 percent of people with dementia are still living at home, they are not in those end stages in long term care. So there's lots of things the Alzheimer Society can do to support that journey."
You can sign up as a team or an individual online in advance, or you can register the day of. You can find more information about the Woodstock event online here and the Tillsonburg event online here.
