WOODSTOCK - A local high school student just broke a record in the Flying 200 metre!
WCI student Alex Gies recently captured six gold medals at the Canadian Junior Track Cycling Championships in the U17 Men's category in Individual Pursuit, Sprint, 500 metre Time Trial, Team Pursuit, Team Sprint, and Madison.
The flying 200 m is the qualifying event for the sprint and represents a benchmark for a cyclist's top speed.
Gies Set the new record of 10.993 seconds, with the previous national record being 11.073 seconds.
