An official announcement isn't expected until Monday, but it looks like school sports are going to be cancelled for the winter season. That includes hockey, volleyball, wrestling and swimming. While public schools have had the whistle blown on their sports, the Catholic schools continue on with their own schedules, as their teachers agreed to contracts. Public school teachers had contracts imposed on them after their unions failed to reach deals with the government. Teachers are withholding all coaching and supervising outside the classroom in protest. In December, the Thames Valley School Board made an appeal to try and get parent coaches lined up, but there wasn't enough interest to continue on with after school sports.
