Graduating students have been receiving bursaries from WITAAR for years.
OXFORD - Six graduating students at local schools are recipients of a $500 bursary from The Woodstock Ingersoll Tillsonburg & Area Association of REALTORS (WITAAR).
WITAAR has donated the bursaries for years to graduating students who are entering a trade after secondary school. President Anthony Montanaro says the school guidance councillors are notified each spring of this award and are sent an application form.
"They then advertise this bursary to the graduating class in their school and any student entering any trade can apply. The school then presents us with the application of the chosen student or sometimes students. At graduation, a realtor of our board will attend and present the student with their $500 bursary. Now last year with COVID-19, this was not possible and students were mailed their cheques.”
The donation has gone to the following students:
- Riley Dodd (College Ave Secondary School)
- Addisyn Cordeiro (St. Mary’s Catholic Secondary School)
- Eric Schepers (Huron Park Secondary School)
- Raiden Gilbert (Woodstock Collegiate Institute)
- Nathan Morissette (École secondaire Notre-Dame)
- Ethan Capern (Ingersoll District Collegiate Institute)
Montanaro added that the board will be continuing to donate these trade bursaries for years to come.
"With the amalgamation with the Tillsonburg & District Real Estate Board in October last year, they will also be adding Glendale High School in Tillsonburg. WITAAR knows the importance of post secondary education and support local students in Oxford County.”
Any graduating student in 2023 who is entering a trade after school is encouraged to contact their guidance department at their school and apply.
