Another name has been added to the running for Woodstock City Council. Maureen Ralph will be on the ballot.
WOODSTOCK - A veteran in municipal politics is running for Woodstock City Council.
Maureen Ralph has put her name in the running to fill a council seat and moved back into Woodstock recently after living in East Zorra-Tavistock and being involved with many community groups. Ralph says she has lots of experience being on council.
"And that involvement translated into 27 consecutive years serving on the East or Tavistock Municipal Council. So, having that experience and coming back to my hometown, I feel I still have quite a bit to offer."
Ralph spent two-thirds of her time on East Zorra-Tavistock Council as Deputy Mayor, and also served a term on Oxford County Council. She speaks to a major topic that she will continue to address if elected.
"Of course, homelessness is always at the top of mind, and I think that the county is certainly working towards that."
Ralph says other topics that she will want to discuss include a new pool for the city, along with a new community complex. She adds that those are some big-ticket items, which will need to be discussed at length to see if they are exactly what the community needs, wants, and can afford.
Residents of Woodstock head to the polls for the municipal election on Monday, October 26th.
