The budget comes in $28,871,000, which was below the original proposal of $29,459,000.
WOODSTOCK - Woodstock City Council has approved the Capital Budget for 2019.
The budget comes in $28,871,000, which was below the original proposal of $29,459,000. Most of the savings on the budget came from councils decision to not invest $900,000 at Lions Pool at this time.
Mayor Trevor Birtch says one the biggest items in the budget is a $10 million dollar investment of phase 2 of the Business Park on Patullo Avenue.
"So sources of funding for that will come from reserves and future development, so not directly related to taxation, so this was a very responsible Capital Budget."
Birtch explains the work they will be doing on phase 2 of the Business Park.
"So for that Business Park area, that includes putting in the road access, as well as storm water management, new water pipes and sanitary sewer pipes as well, so we are getting ready to sell those parcels of land to industry that are looking to have new employment in the Friendly City."
The Budget also includes a new training facility for firefighters that will also help out firefighters in neighbouring communities.
