The cost to park your car in downtown Woodstock could be on the rise.
WOODSTOCK - The cost to park your car in downtown Woodstock could be on the rise. City council was presented with a staff report to increase the price of parking at municipal lots in the friendly city from $1 a day to $2. The report also called for an increase to on street parking fines from $10 to $15 if paid early while setting the fine at $20. City Engineer Harold de Haan says they wanted to make the fines the same for illegal parking on city streets as they are in the lots. In the end council decided to hold off on a decision and wanted to get some feedback from the Chamber of Commerce, the BIA and city staff before making a final decision. The report will come back to council at a later date. Increasing the fines and the parking rate would also generate some more revenue for the city of Woodstock.
