The US publication, Blade magazine is going to feature a local resident from Woodstock this fall.
WOODSTOCK - A local knife maker from Woodstock is starting to gain some National attention.
Jeff Faria will be featured in the US publication, Blade magazine in the Fall. He explains the process he uses for making his knives.
"If you want to forge them out, you basically get yourself a bar of steel, for whichever knife you want to do, basically you heat it up and hammer it to shape and then after that, you grind it down to a prettier shape, heat treat it and make it pretty."
Faria started out making the knives as a hobby after he was given one from a friend.
"My old foreman handed me a knife one day many years ago and he wanted to sell it to me. I asked him where he got it and he said he made it and I just started making it from there."
Faria explains how got the attention of Blade Magazine.
"Well the picture they received was done by a professional photographer, so that helped out a lot. They like to feature lot's of new guys, basically 12 guys every month that they put in their magazine and that particular knife turned out excellent, beyond my expectation."
Faria does sell custom made knives as well and you can find more information on his Facebook page.
