Woodstock Library Expanding Large Print Collection Thanks to Generous Donors

A wonderful couple from Woodstock have been anonymously donating to the local library for several years. This year they asked for the funds to be used to help improve the large print collection.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Public Library has received a generous donation from the a local couple to help enhance their large print collection.

This couple chooses to remain anonymous and has been huge supporters of the library over the years with several donations. Manager of Public Services Darlene Pretty says they are huge supporters of the local library.

"Over the years, they have made very generous donations, some has gone towards collections, some has gone towards equipment for the library but this year they asked that we direct the funds to the large print collection. It is a collection they read themselves, they are voracious readers and it is always difficult to keep that collection and provide materials that people can. We do have a good collection budget at the library, but when we do have the opportunity to enhance a collection, it is truly wonderful."

Pretty says patrons love the large print collection and for many, they are the only books they can read.

“The large print collection is one of our most popular collections in the library, and the opportunity to increase the
collection and offer more choice for our readers is wonderful! Large print titles are more expensive than regular fiction and thanks to this very generous donation we will be able to provide more books for our users.”

Pretty says you can always make suggestions of new books for the library to purchase.

"We always love purchase suggestions from the public, a lot of our purchasing is done by request. Our feeling is that, if you really want to read the book and you have asked to purchase it, there is a very good chance that someone else is going to want to read it. We do our very best to find books in large print, if that is the format that the person prefers to read, so we do our very best to do that."

The Library can't thank this inspiring couple enough for their generosity over the years.
