Members of the public can stop by the Woodstock Museum to sign a book of condolences for Queen Elizabeth the Second.
WOODSTOCK - The Friendly City is remembering Queen Elizabeth the Second.
She passed away at the age of 96 yesterday and her reign lasted 70 years.
The Queen visited the area multiple times throughout her life, but Woodstock Museum Director and Curator Karen Houston says one of her most memorable visits happened back in the early 50s.
"Princess Elizabeth came to Woodstock in 1951. She came in on the train with Prince Phillip and they were greeted at the train station. There might have been about 30,000 people there that day."
Houston says she brought 36 silver stars with her to present to local mothers who lost sons in World Ward II.
"She actually gave them to the mothers directly and that was a huge deal in the area. Less than two years later her father died and she was crowned."
Those who want to know more about the Queen's visit can stop by the Woodstock Museum to check out a permanent display on the second floor.
Starting today, members of the public can also stop by the Woodstock Museum to sign a book of condolences for the late Queen.
