A new two-year collective agreement has been reached for the employees of Caressant Care in Woodstock.
WOODSTOCK - A new collective agreement has been reached for employees at Caressant Care.
The deal was ratified by a 92 percent vote and will see wage increases, improved benefits, and enhanced premiums, which will span over two years. As of April 1st this year, employees will see a wage increase of 3.5 percent, then an increase of 3 percent next year on April 1st.
It also includes improvements to vision and paramedical coverage, increases to the uniform allowance, enhancements to the responsibility premium, and the introduction of a medication premium. Other improvements include new provisions allowing employees nearing retirement to reduce their working hours without impacting their full-time status.
The employees are represented by the Southwestern Ontario Health Care and Service Workers Union, CLAC Local 303, and have been since 1980. CLAC representative Trish Douma says how important it was to reach a deal.
"Our members play an essential role in providing quality care and support to residents. This agreement delivers meaningful improvements while recognizing their dedication and supporting them throughout their careers."
Caressant Care is a retirement living facility that provides care services for seniors in the Woodstock community.
