The replica Spitfire airplane that used to sit on the roof of the Spitfire Emporium has been donated to the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association.
TILLSONBURG - The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association is about to receive an exciting new donation.
Vice President John Britton says long-time member Ray Whittemore recently sold his business, Spitfire Emporium, in Kitchener/Waterloo and has decided to donate the replica Spitfire airplane that sat on the roof of the building.
"He wanted to donate the Spitfire to be used with the new Veterans Memorial Garden, which we are starting to assemble here at CYTV Airport in Tillsonburg."
The Spitfire was built in England and will be on the move soon.
Britton is excited about this new project.
"While we haven't really technically started any fundraising yet. We have a long list of people that want to be on the committee, and then the committee will decide how they are going to proceed with fundraising including memorial bricks."
He would like to thank everyone involved in getting the Spitfire to Tillsonburg.
