Five books have been selected from the 35 nominations, and you have until May 1st to vote for your favourite.
OXFORD COUNTY - Now here’s an excuse to pick up a book! Oxford Reads has returned for a ninth year to spark inspiration and encourage reading throughout the County.
Oxford Reads a county-wide book club and an annual partnership between the the Woodstock Public Library and the Oxford County Library. It brings residents together to immerse themselves in new stories, support Canadian authors and connect the community through literature.
Local book lovers are being asked to help decide the 2026 featured title from the top five books, chosen from 35 nominations. From thrilling adventures to thought-provoking tragedies, there is something for everyone in this year’s finalists.
The contenders are;
Gin, Turpentine, Pennyroyal, Rue by Christine Higdon
Horsefly by Mirelle Gagné (translated by Pablo Stratus)
How to Survive a Bear Attack by Claire Cameron
In the Upper Country by Kai Thomas
Vanished Beyond the Map by Adam Shoalts
Those interested in diving into any of these novels can borrow a copy from the Oxford County Library or Woodstock Public Library. You can visit the Oxford Reads website online here to vote for your favourite before 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1st.
