The Pastor of the Family Church in Woodstock will take the plunge into icy cold water on Sunday, if she raises $40,000 to replace two furnaces within the church.
WOODSTOCK - A church in Woodstock is holding a Pastor Polar Bear Plunge to cover the cost of two new furnaces.
After The Family Church found cracks in their 28-year-old furnaces, they had to spend all of November and part of December in the cold.
Pastor Destiny Raine Freeman says the Church has already raised $20,000, but if they got another $20,000, she would dunk herself in icy cold water in the baptismal tank.
"We just finally got heat in our building, we installed our furnaces a couple of weeks ago. So why not drop the temperature, make it cold again, and then I would do the Polar Bear Plunge to cover the cost of our furnaces."
If The Family Church is on track to receive the necessary funds, the date of the plunge will be January 8th, although they will be accepting donations for the furnaces until January 14th.
Freeman says you can donate by e-transfer, cash, or cheque. They will accept mail, or even have someone come pick it up if you give them a call.
