Woodstock Police Briefs - Wednesday October 12

Woodstock Police issued several charges throughout the long weekend during Operation Impact.

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Police Service stopped over 650 vehicles during Operation Impact.

Only one roadside test was issued and the driver failed. Officers also issued five warnings in relation to Highway Traffic Act offenses during the blitz.

Operation Impact is a national policing initiative, targeting dangerous driving behaviours over the Thanksgiving long weekend. This includes impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, and lack of seatbelt use.

The Woodstock Police Service also issued several charges throughout the long weekend, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, and flight from police.

WOODSTOCK - A 21-year-old is facing impaired driving charges after a single-vehicle crash in his hometown.

Woodstock Police responded to the crash on Buller Street shortly before 5:00 a.m. yesterday.

The man behind the wheel was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, novice driver with a blood alcohol level over zero, operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

WOODSTOCK - Woodstock Police have charged a 36-year-old driver from Norwich, after noticing a vehicle revving its engine loudly in the area of Dundas Street and Springbank Ave.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle early Friday morning, but police say the driver did not pull over and ran through multiple red lights and stop signs.

The driver was charged on Saturday with dangerous operation, flight from peace officer, and unnecessary noise.
