There is still time to donate to the Terry Fox Foundation to help Woodstock reach its goal for the year.
WOODSTOCK - The City of Woodstock is trying to reach its goal of donating to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Run Organizer John Versaevel says the goal this year is to raise $32,000. At this point, their total is hovering around $31,000. He adds that donations can still be given.
"Yup, terryfox.org and that will go in. Right now the Foundation is running a double impact, so that if you donate $50 it will be covered up to $100."
Versaevel mentions every dollar from Woodstock goes right to the Foundation and will be used for cancer research at the Terry Fox Institute. There is also big news regarding the Canadian icon, as the $5 bill will feature Fox.
"I've been waiting for this for several years now. This was first proposed a few years back, and of course, with all things government it takes polling, surveys, planning and bureaucracy."
He adds that he has seen the new bill, and it is beautiful and long overdue. Versaevel mentions that the people of Woodstock should keep an eye and ear out for what is set to be planned for next year. He says there will be all the original events, and lots of planning is being done.
