The 41st annual Woodstock Terry Fox Run will be taking place on Sunday September 19th. It will be a virtual event and the organizing committee will have an information booth at the Woodstock Farmers Market.
WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock Terry Fox Run is fast approaching.
It's happening on Sunday September 19th this year and Chair John Versaevel says it will be a virtual event once again.
"A virtual run is basically where the participant just goes out on the day of the run and they can either run, walk, bike with family, a friend or a small self contained group and mark the day that way."
The virtual run was a big success last year, raising $26,970 for the Terry Fox Foundation. Varseavel would love to beat that record this year and hopefully reach $30,000 for the 41st anniversary.
He says there will be an information booth at the Woodstock Farmers Market so people can learn more.
"We'll be there every Saturday from now to September 18th, the day before the run, and it's for anyone who wants to pick up a t-shirt, a pledge form and get some information about the run."
Another information booth will also be set up at the east-end Shoppers Drug Mart tomorrow morning.
Versaevel says Woodstock has hosted a Terry Fox fundraiser every year since 1980 and the local event has raised over $500,000 since then. You can learn more and sign up for this year's virtual run online here.
